Censer on base, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 18th century. Ceremonial vessel censer with lion/fo iconography and handles; wooden carved quadrangular base. Materials: bronze censer and wood base. Dimensions: censer height 2.2 cm, width 12.3 cm, length 9.7 cm; base height 1.8 cm, width 12.2 cm, length 9.6 cm., A square metal container with a worn gold and dark brown mottled surface sits on a dark reddish-brown wooden stand with curved legs; the metal shows patchy gold areas and darker brown or blackened interior surfaces, and each corner of the container has decorative metallic fittings in a darker bronze or gray tone, including a sculpted handle on one side shaped like a stylized animal head in a darker metal; the wooden stand has a glossy finish and a layered platform with curving edges and short cabriole-style legs, and the whole object is reflected faintly on the smooth light gray surface beneath it against a pale gray background.
