Subject: Figure of a hermit in a cave and other figures — men, scholars, horses, mountains. Dimensions: height 21.0 cm, width 10.0 cm, depth 25.0 cm., A carved dark brown wooden sculpture depicting a mountain-like form with several pointed peaks and small pavilion-like structures, sitting on an oval base atop an intricately carved low stand; around the base of the peaks are a group of human figures and a few animals rendered in relief, some standing and some appearing to lead or accompany the animals, with detailed clothing and saddles; the stand and base show ornamental openwork and scrolling motifs; the visible colors are dark brown, lighter brown highlights on raised areas, and a neutral gray background.
