Censer with a cover on a base, ; Chinese, Qing 1644–1911, 18th century. Bronze censer with high foot, openwork cover and handles; decoration includes dragons and hôo phoenix birds on the cover, various animals on the belly tigers, fish, birds, dragon with a pearl, sea waves, clouds, meander and geometric patterns. Removable knob on cover. Ritual/ceremonial vessel. Height 22.0 cm, width 21.0 cm, depth 17.7 cm., A row of four small ornate metal objects is shown against a neutral pale gray background, each resting on a reflective surface; the objects are predominantly bronze and gold in color with areas of darker patina and black interior surfaces. The leftmost object is low and cylindrical with a flat top and a scalloped base that features decorative ridges and a gilt finish. Next is a larger bowl-shaped vessel with a wide open top, a textured dark interior, and a rounded body embellished with raised gold decorative elements and patterned bands near the rim and foot. To its right is a domed cover or pierced container with an openwork design, ornate gold sculptural motifs on the exterior, and a patterned band along its base. The rightmost object is a small finial-like piece with an intricate openwork body, gold decorative figures on top, and a rounded foot, all reflected faintly below on the glossy surface.
