Vase on base. Chinese, Qing 1644–1911. 17th/18th century. Cast bronze with cold-gold inlay, dusting over lacquer; varnished bronze with full-plastic relief and engraved decoration. Decorated on the shoulders with six buttons with rosettes; lion iconography. Round base with bulging side decorated with openwork plant ornament, on four short legs one missing. Vessel vase: height 26 cm, diameter 16.5 cm. Base: height 5.3 cm, diameter 13.1 cm., A single ornate vase sits centered in the image on a carved wooden stand, showing a warm metallic surface with gold and brown tones and irregular gold leaf-like patches across its body; the vase has a flared neck with sculpted decorative elements resembling stylized animal or mythical motifs in a slightly darker bronze hue, and rounded ornamental bosses around the shoulder; the stand is dark brown to black with intricate openwork carving, and the whole object is reflected faintly on a glossy pale gray surface against a smooth light gray background.
