Vase on base. Chinese, Qing 1644–1911. 17th/18th century. Cast in bronze with cold-gold inlay, dusting over lacquer; varnished bronze, full-plastic relief and engraved decoration. On a high foot. Shoulders decorated with six knop-like buttons with rosettes. Round base with bulging side decorated with openwork plant ornament, on four short legs one missing. Lion iconography. Antidated signatures. Vessel; vase: height 26 cm, diameter 16.5 cm; base: height 5.3 cm, diameter 13.1 cm., A decorative vase with a rounded body and flared neck sits on an ornate carved stand; the vase shows a metallic brown surface with irregular gold patches and accents, and it has sculpted handles shaped like stylized animal heads and looping forms attached near the neck, with raised decorative bands and circular medallion-like elements around the shoulder; the stand is dark wood with intricate openwork carving, and the scene is set against a neutral light gray background with the vase and stand reflected faintly on the glossy surface below.
