Censer with cover, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 18th century. Ceramic or metal vessel used as a censer/ceremonial ritual vessel; height 18.5 cm, width 11.2 cm. Decoration: lions, Immortals, fo, Taoist imagery, lingzhi., A reflective surface holds a group of two dark metal objects with an aged patina; one object lies on its side showing a round bottom with small rounded feet and irregular surface discoloration in brown and dark tones, while the other stands upright displaying an openwork domed top with flowing cutout patterns and a sculpted animal-like figure rising from the center with a textured body and raised head; the colors visible include dark gray, brown, muted gold highlights on small feet, and subtle greenish oxidation, all set against a pale gray background with faint reflections beneath the objects.
