Gui-type bowl, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 2nd half 18th century. Bronze vessel modeled after a ritual gui. The bowl is supported by a low, ring-shaped foot; its shape and decoration refer to a ritual gui vessel. The walls are decorated with three horizontal rows of small, convex knobs reminiscent of archaic ruding nailheads decoration, framed by a thin rim at the bottom and a band framing the spout at the top. Two stylized handles on either side echo the old prototype. The upper part is decorated with an image of cicada larvae arranged in the form of a rosette. China.
