Vase, Paderewski, Ignacy Jan 1860–1941. Chinese art; Qing dynasty 1644–1911, Xianfeng period 1851–1861; cloisonné enamel. Flowers, floral pattern, meander ornament. The vase is set on a tall, conical foot flaring downwards, terminating in a metal ring, decorated with a lotus tendril. The neck is short and wide, also topped with a metal ring, below which is a border composed of ruyi heads. The belly and neck are decorated with a continuous composition of flowers and plum branches placed against a red Chinese meander background. 1st half of the 19th century. China. Vessel; height 25.1 cm, diameter 16.5 cm, weight 1.5 kg., A top-down view of a round vessel with a wide dark interior and a metallic inner rim; the exterior surface is predominantly red with floral and leaf patterns in shades of white, blue, green, yellow, and pink, and a few small butterfly or petal-like shapes, all set against a gray background.
