Vase - moon bottle pilgrim bottle with a flattened belly, supported by a separate oval high foot, with a short neck resembling a garlic bulb suantoukou type. Decoration on one side: a multicolored composition depicting a chrysanthemum flower growing on a coastal rock, above which a dragonfly and a grasshopper hover. The other side shows lilies irises on a rock above the water, with a butterfly and a grasshopper above them. Small, colorful shore flowers appear in both representations. Both compositions use the flowers and birds motif known from Chinese scroll painting. A Chinese meander forms the background for both compositions. The foot, side edges, and neck are filled with a lotus tendril. Colors dominated by red, white, green, yellow, and navy blue. Elements without enamel decoration are gilded; there are visible abrasions of the gilding and firing-related technological defects. Cloisonné enamel. Qing dynasty 2nd half 18th century. China. Vessel. Height 29.8 cm, width 21.1 cm., A round, flat vessel with a bulbous neck sits against a plain gray background; the vessel is predominantly bright blue with a repeating maze-like pattern across its surface and has a thin metallic rim. The central panel shows stylized plant forms with green stems and leaves, several flowers in white, red, yellow, and purple, and a pair of elongated winged insects rendered in white and red and in green. Near the base of the panel is a swirling blue rock formation above a patterned ground in pale green and black. The neck and lower foot of the vessel are decorated with floral motifs in white, red, green, and yellow on the same bright blue background, and there are fine dark outlines and accents throughout the design.
