Box with lid, Chinese, Qing Qianlong, cloisonné enamel. Large cylindrical-spheroidal box supported on a separate annular foot, with a slightly flattened lid. Surface covered by a plant tendril encircling the container and lid, dominated by chrysanthemum flowers and leaves in various stylistic forms on a turquoise background. Upper edge of the storage section and lower edge of the cover decorated with a border of ruyi-head motifs in white and red; a blue three-petal pattern completes the decoration. Foot bears an ornamental band of colorful flowers and leafy twigs. Interior of the box and inner surface of the foot filled with uniform turquoise enamel. Unenamelled edges of the storage section, cover, and foot are gilded. 18th century, China. Height 14.5 cm; diameter 34.5 cm., An oval lidded container with a rounded lid and short pedestal base covered in intricate enamel patterns in shades of blue, turquoise, white, green, brown, yellow, and gold; the surface shows repeating floral and scrolling vine motifs, stylized flowers with white petals and yellow centers, small blue petal clusters, green leaf shapes, and brown curving outlines; two gold bands encircle the middle where the lid meets the base, and the foot rim features a band of floral enamel on a deep blue background; the overall color palette includes prominent light blue and deep blue, accented by white, green, brown, yellow, and metallic gold.
