Travel cutlery set in case. 19th century China, Qing dynasty. Consists of: a Knife with cloisonné enamel handle and steel blade; b–c Ivory chopsticks decorated at the top with an inlaid black lacquer border ornament; d File decorated similarly to the chopsticks; e Case 28 cm length made of cloisonné enamel with bronze fittings engraved at top and bottom, interior lined with wood. Chopsticks and file are held by a band decorated with a matching border; a narrow cotton-silk strap with fringes is attached. Case decorated with flowers in two reserves and plant tendrils in the background. Motifs include plants and a swastika iconography. Function: travel cutlery set., A group of long cylindrical sticks arranged diagonally across a gray background, each stick appearing off-white with a smooth surface; three sticks have patterned rounded ends with dark decorative markings, and one stick shows a darker textured strip along part of its length that is blackish-gray; the overall colors visible are off-white, gray, black, and a bluish-gray background.
