Travel cutlery set in case;, 19th century, China, Qing dynasty. Travel cutlery comprising: a Knife with cloisonné enamel handle and steel blade; b–c Ivory chopsticks decorated with an inlaid black lacquer border ornament at the top; d File decorated similarly to the chopsticks; e Case 28 cm length of cloisonné enamel with bronze fittings engraved at top and bottom, interior lined with wood. The chopsticks and file are held by a band decorated with a matching border; a narrow cotton-silk strap with fringes is attached. Case decorated with floral reserves and plant tendrils in the background. Motifs include plant designs and a swastika. Function: cutlery., A long slender sheath with a decorative blue surface featuring swirling gold outlines and floral-like motifs in lighter blue, red, green, yellow, and white rests on a flat grey background, with ornate metallic gold caps at each end; attached to one end is a woven gold-colored strap with a round metallic bead and a tasseled fringe in gold tones.
