Travel cutlery set in case; 19th century, China Qing dynasty. Travel cutlery comprising: a knife with cloisonné enamel handle and steel blade; b–c ivory chopsticks decorated at the top with an inlaid black lacquer ornament in the form of a border; d file decorated similarly to the chopsticks; e cloisonné enamel case with bronze fittings engraved with ornamentation at top and bottom, interior lined with wood. Chopsticks and file are held by a band decorated with a matching border; a narrow cotton-silk strap with fringes is attached to the case. Case decorated with flowers in two reserves and plant tendrils in the background. Materials: cloisonné enamel, ivory, steel, bronze, lacquer; motifs: plant motifs, swastika; function: cutlery; length: 28 cm case., A long cylindrical object with decorative floral and scrollwork patterns lies diagonally across a flat surface alongside a woven strap with a tassel. The cylindrical piece shows areas of light blue and deep blue enamel with motifs in white, red, yellow, and gold, and has metallic end caps with an aged brass or bronze appearance. The strap is a muted gold or beige fabric with a matching tassel and a round metallic fastener. The background surface is a cool gray.
