Bowl, 19th century, China. Cloisonné enamel decorative vessel, height 2.3 cm, diameter 9.4 cm. Round, flat-bottomed bowl with low side wall widening toward a curved, gilded outward rim. Mirror decorated on a light purple ground around a central black rosette with four butterflies in white, red, and black, and multicolored flowers including Buddha's fingers/Chinese lemon and surrounding leaves arranged in a circle. Inner wall has a floral tendril on a blue background with multicolored flowers similar to the mirror decoration; a lambrequin ornament at the edge resembles rui-head shapes. Outer wall in turquoise carries a decoration similar to the inner wall. Underside of the bottom coated with single-color purple enamel. Paired with another bowl., A shallow circular dish with a metallic rim decorated with a repeating floral enamel pattern in blues, turquoise, green, red, white, yellow and black, set against a neutral pale background and showing a reflected image of the dish on a glossy surface.
