Tin with a lid, Chinese, Qing dynasty, Qianlong period, 18th century. Cylindrical tin with a wide plate-like collar extending beyond the vessel walls and slightly rising at the rim. Domed lid with a handle in the shape of a decorative knob with openwork relief: a dragon in clouds, its head directed toward a pearl at the top of the handle. Exterior of the vessel box and collar decorated in cloisonné enamel with a multicolored red, blue, green, yellow, white small-flowered ornament — branches with rosettes, buds, and leaves — on a turquoise background. Lid decorated with a lotus tendril of four geometrically arranged flowers and surrounding branches; a multi-petal rosette at the center under the metal handle, all on a turquoise ground. Bottom filled with a rich multicolored composition of elements reminiscent of Buddhist symbols — a vajra and Dharma wheel forming the inner central rosette, with red and blue ribbons between the symbols. Interior of box and lid ungilded of enamel; all interior elements are gilded. Possibly used as a ritual incense box. Container; height 7.7 cm, diameter 15.1 cm; cloisonné enamel., A round decorative object with concentric raised rings and a central knob, covered in a repeating floral and vine pattern; the background color is predominantly light blue with visible accents of red, dark blue, green, white, gold, and black in the floral motifs and outlining, and the central knob and thin bordering elements are metallic gold.
