Vase, 19th century, Qing dynasty China. Cloisonné enamel vessel with a neck, height 33.0 cm, diameter 15.0 cm, weight 1.7 kg. Decoration: floral and plant tendrils on a turquoise background; birds and animals cranes, deer, tigers and zoomorphic motifs in circular medallions on a plant background; peonies, lotuses, chrysanthemums, lotus tendril and meander ornaments. Two stylized handles on the sides of the neck., A tall, narrow-necked vase with a rounded body decorated in intricate cloisonné patterns, predominantly turquoise and blue with accents of gold, black, red, green, and white; the neck features scrolling blue and gold floral motifs on a turquoise background with a gold rim, and a thin gold handle-like strip running down from the shoulder; the bulbous body is covered in swirling floral and vine designs in blue and turquoise with gold highlights and several circular panels set against black backgrounds containing stylized botanical and wave motifs in red, green, white, and gold; a band of black with white floral shapes encircles the shoulder, and a gold and black patterned band decorates the base; the vase sits on a reflective surface and is shown against a plain light gray background.
