Round box with a lid, Chinese, Qing 1644–1911, cloisonné enamel, cylindrical flattened shape on a separate ring foot with a slightly convex lid, decorated overall with multi-colored lotus tendrils on a turquoise background. Lid shows three fruits peach, pomegranate, lemon with accompanying bats—an auspicious motif meaning many happiness, long life, and many sons. Asymmetrical composition set against a cloud background formed by bent wire; same motif appears in the box’s storage section, which is also decorated with colorful medallions single, pairs, or threes featuring various Chinese plant ornaments. Rounded edge of lid and storage section, lower edge of foot and its bottom are gilded. Bottom and entire interior covered with turquoise enamel. 19th century, China; container; height 4.6 cm, diameter 9.8 cm., A rounded dome-shaped object with a glossy blue surface decorated with a pattern of swirling line motifs and floral-like shapes outlined in metallic gold, with additional colors including red, yellow, green, purple, and white; the edge shows a thin metallic gold rim and the object rests against a neutral gray background.
