Vase, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century. Cloisonné enamel on metal; vessel on a foot with a neck. Decoration: fish and crabs on a turquoise background, archaizing inscription on the neck. Height 23.2 cm; diameter 9.1 cm., A rounded vase with a narrow neck and flared rim sits against a neutral gray background, predominantly glazed in bright blue with gold accents; the rim and base edges are metallic gold and the neck features a band of deep blue and a few darker blue decorative borders. The body shows a pattern of swirling wave lines in darker blue over the bright blue ground, with a group of stylized aquatic creatures including a yellow crab with red claws, several red fish with white and gold details, and a black fish with gold and white accents, along with a few green leaf-like elements and pale green wave motifs near the base.
