Decoration: fish and crabs on a turquoise background, archaizing inscription on the neck. 19th century, China. Vessel. Height 23.2 cm; diameter 9.1 cm., A rounded vase with a narrow neck and flared rim sits against a neutral gray background, predominantly turquoise blue with swirling wave patterns in darker blue lines; the body features a large black fish with gold-edged scales and yellow fins, several smaller red fish with white and gold accents, and a bright blue crab with gold highlights, along with green lotus leaves scattered among the wave motifs; the neck has a band of vertical dark motifs on the blue ground and a decorative red and gold border under the rim, while the base and rim are finished with metallic gold bands and a green-and-white wave-pattern border above the lower gold band.
