Bowl, gift; Chinese, Qing 1644–1911; cloisonné enamel; 18th century, China; vessel, diameter 9.3 cm. Shallow bowl on a separate foot decorated inside with a colorful composition of three symbolic fruits: a peach, a pomegranate and a finger lemon, accompanied by bats—interpreted as a wish for “many happiness, long life, and many sons.” Inner rim decorated with a circle of ruyi heads black, red, navy blue. Outer surface filled with colorful medallions arranged singly, in pairs, or in threes, featuring stylized plant motifs framed by a Chinese meander pattern made of bent wire in a net-like form on a turquoise background. Foot decorated with a band of alternating red and blue circles on turquoise. Bottom entirely covered with turquoise enamel., A shallow decorative bowl sits on a flat surface, shown in profile with a low rounded rim and a narrow foot. The exterior and interior surfaces display intricate enamel patterns in blue tones, with accents of gold around the rim and foot. There are small floral motifs in green and pale colors set within circular medallions around the side, and a repeating ornamental band with blue and reddish accents near the base. The interior rim shows a darker blue band with swirling decorative shapes, and the overall palette includes shades of blue, gold, green, pale cream, and hints of red.
