Vase, Kawaguchi Bunzaemon 1860–post 1910, craftsman. Slender cloisonné enamel vase with a long thin neck. Decoration: two pine trees growing on a seaside rock, the rolling sea and two flying cranes. Late 19th century Meiji period, 1868–1912, Nagoya, Japan. Vessel; height 30.6 cm, width 7.8 cm., A tall, slender glass vase with a narrow flared neck and teardrop body, showing a textured surface and a glossy finish. The upper portion is pale off-white that transitions into a soft turquoise and then into deeper aqua and blue tones toward the base. The lower body has swirling wave-like patterns in shades of blue and white that create a sense of movement, and there are a few small green leaf-like shapes near the midsection and base. The rim and base edges are accented in a darker metallic gray, and the vase sits on a reflective surface that mirrors its colors.
