Vase by Kawaguchi Bunzaemon 1860–post 1910, craftsman. Slender cloisonné enamel vase with a long thin neck. Decoration: two pine trees growing on a seaside rock, the rolling sea and two flying cranes, seas, waves, clouds. Meiji period, late 19th century 1868–1912. Japan, Nagoya. Vessel. Height 30.6 cm; width 7.8 cm., A tall, slender vase with a narrow neck and flared rim stands against a plain gray background; the vase surface shows a textured, pale off-white area near the neck transitioning into a painted scene of a group of trees with brown trunks and green foliage set against bluish-green and pale turquoise areas that suggest water and land, with additional muted greens and light browns in the lower portion and a darker rim at the top.
