Vase by Namikawa Yasuyuki 1845–1927, ca. 1890–1905 Meiji period. Small, slender cloisonné enamel vase, height 18.0 cm, diameter 7.8 cm. Body tapers toward the bottom to a ring-shaped silver foot; arms merge into a short neck slightly parted at the spout, enclosed by a silver ring. Ornamental shippo cloisonné border with rosettes in rhomboid fields at the foot and a similar neck border. Petal decoration filled with stylized phoenix images flows down to the shoulders. Belly is glossy black enamel with six colorful fan-shaped reserves decorated with floral and bird motifs in the yusen technique with silver wires. Silver plaque with engraved signature mounted in the mirror of the bottom: Kyoto Namikawa. Origin: Kyoto, Japan., A tall vase with a glossy black background decorated with a few panels in cream, green, and blue showing floral and bird motifs, a patterned neck and base with geometric designs in green, cream, and brown, and additional decorative accents in red, gold, and turquoise.
