Vase by, Meiji period ca. 1890–1900, Kyoto, Japan. Cloisonné enamel vessel on a small ring-shaped foot, with a short neck ending in a spout widening toward the top. Decoration: stylized plant ornament in six reserves alternating dragon and phoenix Japanese dragon motif and hoo/phoenix. Height 15.0 cm; diameter 8.0 cm., A tall decorative vase sits against a plain gray background, with a narrow neck flaring to a slightly wider rim in a metallic brown tone and a rounded body that tapers to a small base. The vase shows a combination of deep blue, rich red, creamy white, gold, and touches of teal and brown in its painted panels and patterns. The upper shoulder area has a red field with floral motifs in gold and white, while the main body features several white cartouche-like panels each containing a stylized creature rendered in blue, red, teal, and brown, separated by gold outlines. The lower portion of the vase is a deep blue with gold ornamental accents and small decorative motifs near the base, which rests on a thin gold-colored foot. The surface appears glossy and reflective, and a faint reflection of the vase is visible on the surface beneath it.
