Vase, cloisonné enamel. Vase on a small, ring-shaped foot with a short neck ending in a spout widening toward the top. Decoration: stylized plant ornament in six reserves alternating dragon and phoenix motifs. Japanese dragon and phoenix hoo iconography. Meiji period, ca. 1890–1900. Japan, Kyoto. Vessel; height 15.0 cm, diameter 8.0 cm., A tall ceramic vase with a narrow neck and flared rim standing on a reflective surface, decorated with intricate painted panels and floral motifs. The vase shows a palette of deep blue, rich red, white, gold, light blue, green, and brown. The upper portion features red background areas with white floral designs and gold accents, while the main body alternates white shield-shaped panels containing stylized dragon- or floral-like figures outlined in gold against deep blue sections with decorative gold elements. The neck is primarily white with delicate light blue and gold scrolling patterns, and the rim and base have metallic gold finishes. The overall background behind the vase is a uniform neutral gray.
