Vase, gift, repossession Kraków. Cloisonné enamel vase on a small ring-shaped foot with a short neck ending in a spout widening toward the top. Decoration: stylized plant ornament and alternating dragon and phoenix hoo in six reserves; motifs include Japanese dragon and phoenix. Japanese, Kyoto; Meiji period, ca. 1890–1900. Vessel. Height 15.0 cm; diameter 8.0 cm., A tall ceramic vase with a narrow neck and flared rim stands against a plain gray background, showing a polished surface and a reflective base. The vase features a palette of dark blue, white, reddish-brown, light blue, gold, and muted green. Its upper shoulder area has a band of reddish-brown decorated with floral motifs in gold and light blue, while the neck area displays an intricate light blue and white scrolling pattern. The main body alternates panels of white and dark blue; the white panels contain stylized mythical creatures rendered in blue, red, and muted green with dark outlines, and are framed by gold-edged scalloped borders. The dark blue lower section is punctuated with small ornamental motifs in gold and light colors, and the rim and foot of the vase have weathered metallic brown and gold tones. The vase casts a subtle reflection on the smooth surface beneath it.
