Vase, ovoid vase one of a pair, slender, on a low ring-shaped foot with a narrow neck flaring at the rim. Foot and mouth framed with sheet metal. Decorated with a motif of a blooming iris bush rendered naturalistically with varied color tones. Executed using the yusen cloisonné enamel technique against a uniform sea-green background. Narrow colorful borders of small triangular cicada wing forms around the foot and rim. Meiji period, ca. 1900. Japan, Nagoya. Vessel; height 25 cm, width 9.7 cm, depth 8.8 cm., A tall, slender ceramic vase with a narrow neck and flared rim in a deep teal color, decorated with painted long, slender green leaves and a few purple flower petals on one side, a thin band with a repeating scalloped pattern in red, white, blue, and gold around the base and a matching narrow decorative band beneath the rim, and subtle highlights and reflections on the glossy surface against a soft gray background.
