Vase, ovoid one of a pair, slender on a low ring-shaped foot with a narrow neck flaring at the rim; foot and mouth framed with sheet metal. Decorated with a motif of a blooming iris bush rendered naturalistically in a variety of color tones, executed using the yusen cloisonné enamel technique against a uniform sea-green background. Narrow colorful borders of small triangular cicada wing forms around the foot and rim. Japanese, Nagoya; Meiji period, ca. 1900. Vessel cloisonné enamel, height 25 cm, width 9.7 cm, depth 8.8 cm., A tall, slender vase with a narrow neck and flared rim in teal, decorated with a painted design of a group of purple flowers with green stems and long leaves, a few buds, and a small decorative border in red, blue, white, and gold at the base and a subtle gold rim at the top, shown against a smooth gray background.
