Vase, ovoid vase one of a pair, slender, on a low ring-shaped foot with a narrow neck flaring at the rim. Foot and mouth framed with sheet metal. Decorated with a motif of a blooming iris bush rendered naturalistically with varied color tones, executed using the yusen cloisonné enamel technique against a uniform sea-green background. Narrow colorful borders around the foot and rim made with yusen, composed of small triangular cicada wing forms. Japanese; Nagoya; ca. 1900 Meiji period, 1868–1912. Vessel; height 25 cm, width 9.7 cm, depth 8.8 cm., A tall, glossy vase with a smooth teal surface and a narrow flared neck, topped by a dark brown rim with a decorative multicolored scalloped border; the body shows painted long, slender green and yellow leaves and partial purple flower shapes, and the base has a red band with a repeating multicolored decorative pattern, all set against a neutral light gray background.
