Vase, ovoid one of a pair, slender, on a low ring-shaped foot with a narrow neck flaring at the rim; foot and mouth framed with sheet metal. Decorated with a motif of a blooming iris bush rendered with naturalistic fidelity and varied color tones, executed using the yusen cloisonné enamel technique against a uniform sea-green background. Narrow, colorful borders of small triangular cicada wing forms around the foot and rim. Japanese, Nagoya; ca. 1900 Meiji period, 1868–1912. Vessel; height 25 cm, width 9.7 cm, depth 8.8 cm., Gift/provenance and repossession notes omitted., A tall vase with a narrow neck and flared rim, finished in a teal-green background and decorated with a group of iris flowers; the flowers have purple and white petals with yellow accents and are surrounded by long green leaves and stems; the rim and base have decorative bands with red, blue, white, and gold tones; the surface is glossy and reflective, and the overall color palette includes teal-green, purple, white, green, yellow, red, blue, and gold.
