Vase, ovoid one of a pair, slender on a low ring-shaped foot with a narrow neck flaring at the rim; foot and mouth framed with sheet metal. Decorated with a motif of a blooming iris bush rendered naturalistically with varied color tones, executed using the yusen cloisonné enamel technique against a uniform sea-green background. Narrow colorful borders around the foot and rim made with yusen, composed of small triangular forms called cicada wings. Japanese; Nagoya. Meiji period, ca. 1900. Vessel; height 25 cm, width 9.7 cm, depth 8.8 cm., A rounded square ceramic object viewed from above showing its circular metal base inset at the center, with a teal blue body decorated with pale green and yellow leaf-like shapes; the metal base appears worn and dull silver in color with a few darker tarnished areas, and the background is a uniform medium gray.
