Vase, ovoid one of a pair, slender on a low ring-shaped foot with a narrow neck flaring at the rim; foot and mouth framed with sheet metal. Decorated with a motif of a blooming iris bush, rendered naturalistically with varied color tones, executed using the yusen cloisonné enamel technique against a uniform sea-green background. Narrow, colorful yusen borders of small triangular cicada wing forms around the foot and rim. Japanese, Nagoya; Meiji period, ca. 1900. Vessel. Height 25 cm; width 9.7 cm; depth 8.8 cm., A tall vase with a narrow neck and flared rim sits against a neutral background, the vase surface primarily teal with decorative bands of brown and red near the top and base; a group of large purple flowers with yellow accents and several white flowers with subtle gray shading are painted on the body, accompanied by long green leaves and stems in varying shades of green.
