Vase by Hiratsuka Mohei 1836-?, ca. 1880–1890 Meiji period, 1868–1912, Japan. Slender ovoid, double-walled bottle on a very low ring foot with a narrow neck flaring at the spout. Outer wall is openwork composed of densely arranged, colorfully enamelled cloisonné wisteria flowers and leaves filling the vessel's body. Flowers rendered naturalistically in clusters of lilac and blue using multiple enamel shades; leaves in several tones of green. Lower body has a strip of silver left around the foot engraved with a stylized wave motif. The arms of the vessel are solid silver, with a strip of stylized clouds above the floral ornament. Neck is enclosed by a rosette with petals decorated with a multicolored miniature stylized plant ornament featuring chrysanthemum half-rosettes, leafy forms, and volutes. Mark on the bottom: oval convex plaque with the artist's name: Hiratsuka. Vessel; height 19.1 cm, diameter 7.2 cm., A tall, narrow vase with a metallic top and base is covered in raised floral decoration; the body shows a dense pattern of clustered small blossoms and layered leaves in shades of purple, white, green, and touches of pale blue, with dark metallic outlines and swirling relief details, while the neck features a flared rim with petal-like metalwork showing hints of blue, green, and gold against a silvery background, all set against a neutral gray backdrop.
