Around the middle of the vase is a painted scene framed by narrow decorative gold bands, depicting a group of people wearing patterned garments standing on a wooden veranda beside sliding screens, with hanging foliage and a water channel below showing green plants and flowering irises. The painted panel uses colors including gold, cream, pale blue, green, black, and soft reds, while the background of the image is a plain light gray.
