Small box with a lid, Kinkôzan, Sôbei VII 1867–1927 creator / craftsman; Kinkôzan workshop / co-creator; Japanese, Meiji late 19th century, 1868–1912; Kyoto, Awata. Satsuma ceramics vessel/container with wisteria and butterflies decoration. The lid has a gold knob in the shape of a flower. The vessel has two slightly convex handles and stands on three wide feet. Signed. Height 6.8 cm; diameter 10.2 cm., A low, round ceramic bowl with a cream base color sits on a reflective surface against a gray background; it has a decorative gold rim and gold handles on each side, small tapered feet with gold ornamentation, and a painted floral garland of hanging wisteria-like clusters in shades of purple, blue, pink, and pale green interspersed with gold leaves and a few small painted insects in brown and yellow.
