Small box with a lid, Kinkôzan, Sôbei VII 1867–1927 maker; Kinkôzan workshop. . Japanese, Meiji period late 19th century. Ceramics satsuma. Kyoto, Awata. The lid has a gold knob in the shape of a flower. The vessel has two slightly convex handles and rests on three wide feet. Signed. Subject motifs: wisteria and butterflies. Vessel/container. Height 6.8 cm; diameter 10.2 cm., A low, rounded ceramic bowl with a glossy white surface sits on small feet and casts a reflection on a smooth gray surface, decorated with gold ornamental trim around the rim and a prominent raised gold handle-like motif on the side, with delicate painted floral garlands and hanging blossoms in soft purple and pale blue tones accented by fine brown stems and green leaves, and small touches of brown in tiny insect-like details against a neutral beige interior and a muted gray background.
