Small box with a lid, Kinkôzan, Sôbei VII 1867–1927 author, Kinkôzan workshop / co-creator; Japanese, Meiji late 19th century; Kyoto, Awata. Satsuma ceramics vessel decorated with wisteria and butterflies. The lid has a gold knob in the shape of a flower. The vessel has two slightly convex handles on three wide feet. Signed. Height 6.8 cm; diameter 10.2 cm., A small lidded porcelain bowl with a rounded body and short feet sits on a reflective surface against a gray background; the bowl is primarily white with ornate gold trim and gilded handles on each side, and the lid has a gold knop; delicate painted floral garlands in colors including blue, pink, green, purple, and brown hang around the body and lid, with small painted insects in red and yellow visible among the flowers; the reflection of the bowl and its decoration is visible on the surface below.
