A slender miniature vase by Nogawa, ca. 1890–1900 Meiji period. Silver with gilding and black shakudo patina; round, slightly recessed base with an engraved brand. Belly widens slightly toward the top with narrow, straight arms and a flat-ring spout; no neck. Sparse naturalistic decoration: a wisteria vine placed on the upper part of the belly on one side, with a sumptuous flower cluster hanging down almost to the vase’s end. The masterly combination of various metals and alloys produces a darker-toned decorative motif against the background, giving colorfulness and enhancing the naturalistic yet decorative depiction.
