You-type vessel with a lid on a stand, Chinese, Qing dynasty, Qianlong period 1736–1795. Cloisonné cellular enamel ritual/ceremonial you vessel with elaborate, precise, multi-colored decoration depicting a taotie mask and stylized bird images, motifs borrowed from archaic bronzes. Plastic insets decorate the sides and animal head terminals flank the movable handle. Wooden elongated stand, mattly polished rosewood, decorated with bas-relief bats and spiral ornament. The you form with lid and movable handle was originally used to store alcoholic beverages during the Shang Dynasty. Materials: cloisonné enamel, metal, wood. Dimensions: vessel H 39.0 cm, W 24.0 cm, D 19.0 cm, weight 5.6 kg; stand H 55.0 cm, W 30.0 cm, D 18.0 cm, weight 1.8 kg., A decorative metal vessel with a handle and a separate lid sitting on a reflective surface; the vessel has a bulbous body with ornate attached fittings and a curved rectangular handle rising above it, all decorated with intricate patterns and designs predominantly in shades of blue with accents of gold and touches of red, green, and white; the body and lid feature symmetrical motifs and stylized shapes, and the metal rims and ornamental fittings are gold in color; the lid, placed to the right of the vessel, echoes the vessel’s blue and gold palette and has a small domed finial on top.
