Ashtray; maker, early 1st half of the 20th century; North India. Applied art smoking accessory of Indian culture, used for tobacco smoking. Decoration: floral tendril on the sides; composition with a botanical pattern and two branches on the flattened part of the wall. Engraved patterns colored with orange and black pastes; plant ornaments, geometric ornaments, leaves, flowers. Height 3.2 cm; diameter 7.0 cm., A low, rounded metal object with a shallow rectangular opening and three rounded notches along its rim, decorated around its sides with a repeating floral band; visible colors include gold, reddish-brown, dark brown, and a pale gray background, with worn and darker areas on the rim and inner surfaces.
