Sword hilt cap kashira, Japanese, katana hilt cap decorated with two flowerpots: one with a dwarf pine tree, the other with a dwarf flowering plum tree; on the reverse a flowering tree seedling with wrapped roots. 19th century late Edo/Meiji period, Japan. Materials/technique: melee weapon hilt cap. Dimensions: height 0.9 cm; width 3.7 cm; depth 2.0 cm., A single oval-shaped object with a central triangular cutout is centered against a plain gray background; the object shows brown and dark brown tones with small areas of greenish patina and hints of gold along its edges.
