Vase with cover, Japanese, Edo period 18th century, porcelain Imari, decorated with flowers, tree, bamboos, peonies, and karashishi; vessel, height 25.5 cm, diameter 16 cm., A ceramic jar with a lid sits against a light gray background, the jar showing a glossy surface with deep blue, red, white, and touches of green colors; the body is decorated with floral and cloud-like motifs in red and white set against a blue ground, and there are panel-like white areas containing red floral sketches and small green accents; the lid echoes the same blue and red floral patterns and is topped with a sculpted white finial shaped like an abstract organic form with irregular openings and textured surfaces; the jar rests on a white foot and its lower portion and reflection are visible on the smooth surface beneath.
