Vase, Chinese, 18th century. Colored porcelain vessel with figurative genre and battle scenes. Height 31.2 cm; width 11.0 cm., A tall, rectangular ceramic vase with a flared rim and a narrow base stands against a plain gray background. The vase is predominantly white with painted scenes in green, blue, orange, yellow, and brown, showing stylized trees, rocks, and human figures wearing flowing robes. Decorative bands with repeating patterns in blue, green, orange, and yellow encircle the vase near the top and bottom. On one side, a group of figures is depicted among trees and a pavilion-like structure, with some figures holding long objects and others seated; colors there include green, blue, orange, and brown. The opposite upper panel shows a smaller scene of seated figures beneath tree branches in green and brown with accents of orange and blue. Small sculpted handles in green and yellow protrude from the sides, and the vase rests on a reflective surface that mirrors its base and some of the colors.
