Cricket Cage, Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, colored porcelain vessel depicting animals engaged in fighting cricket fighting, 1st half of the 19th century, height 17.9 cm, width 4.6 cm., A rectangular porcelain tray with rounded corners sits against a gray background, decorated with a painted scene of a group of people in a garden; the tray's interior rim is turquoise, the exterior field is off-white with painted areas of green, red, blue, purple, brown, and black, showing a few standing figures wearing colorful robes in shades of green, pink, purple, blue, and orange, a figure carrying a shoulder pole with hanging bundles, a group of figures interacting, a seated figure near circular objects, stylized green foliage and trees in the background, a low red fence motif, scattered darker green patches on the ground, and a large blue circular form near the right end, with a soft reflection visible beneath the tray.
