Mirror with TLV decoration on a pedestal in the form of a qilin on a base. Chinese, Qing dynasty 18th century. Mirror: cast from chiseled bronze, decoration in flat relief—centrally placed knob enclosed in a square with four T-shaped motifs attached; L- and V-shaped motifs at the edge. Unicorn qilin: cast from chiseled bronze. Base: carved wood. Mirror possibly cast from an earlier product 6th century - ?. Sculpture/mirror. Height 26 cm; diameter 16.2 cm., A dark brown sculpted figure of a reclining animal with curved horns rests on a carved wooden base; the animal has a smooth, polished surface with subtle lighter brown highlights and carved ornamental lines on its body, and a decorative crescent-shaped element with cloud-like motifs rises from its back in a similar dark brown tone, while the base is a warmer reddish-brown wood.
