Mirror with TLV decoration on a pedestal in the form of a qilin on a base. Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911. Materials: cast and chiseled bronze mirror with TLV flat-relief decoration—centrally placed knob enclosed in a square with four T-like motifs and L- and V-shaped motifs at the edge; unicorn qilin cast from chiseled bronze; carved wooden base. 18th century mirror cast from an earlier product, possibly 6th century–?. Sculpture/mirror. Height 26 cm; diameter 16.2 cm., A circular metal object with a raised central boss and concentric decorative bands, showing a patina of gray and dark gray tones with areas of brownish discoloration; the central area features a geometric motif with a diamond shape and a group of raised rounded knobs surrounded by intricate repeating scrollwork and curvilinear designs; the outer band contains a repeating wave-like pattern and a zigzag border, all rendered in muted metallic gray and darker shadowed gray, set against a pale gray gradient background.
