Figurine of the goddess made of light coffee-colored alabaster, on a stone base feldspar with red and pink spots, painted with black lacquer. Goddess holds a rosary in her right hand and a child in her left. Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 18th–19th century. Sculpture. Height 18.2 cm, width 13.8 cm. Chinese Buddhism; figurine., A small sculptural object sits on a smooth surface against a dark gradient background; the object has an irregular, blocky form with interlocking hollowed sections and rough, chiseled edges, displaying glossy dark black surfaces with patches of reddish-brown and lighter beige tones, and subtle reflections and shadowing where the form meets the pale foreground.
