Teapot kyûsu with lid, butterflies, plant motifs, Japanese culture, birds, plum trees, Meiji 1868–1912, lids, cloisonné enamel. The lid is topped with a stylised lotus flower. Decoration: two reserves on the belly — a plum tree and a bird; plants and butterflies; the rest of the background and the cover — a floral tendril. Date ca. 1906–1908 Meiji 39–41. Japan, Kyoto. Vessel. Height 10.0 cm, diameter 10.0 cm., A small rounded lidded vessel with a central vertical handle sits on a reflective surface, showing a mirrored reflection beneath it. The vessel is richly decorated with floral and scrolling patterns in colors including red, blue, turquoise, green, pink, black, gold, and purple. The lid has concentric decorative bands and a small ornate gold-colored finial. The body displays panels of different background colors with flower motifs and curving vine designs, and the handle has a dark textured appearance. The background is a plain neutral gray.
