Teapot kyûsu with lid, butterflies, Japanese art, plant motifs, Japanese culture, birds, plum trees, Meiji 1868–1912, lid topped with a stylised lotus flower, cloisonné enamel. Decoration: two reserves on the belly — a plum tree and a bird; plants and butterflies; the rest of the background and the cover — a floral tendril. Date: ca. 1906–1908 Meiji 39–41. Place of origin: Kyoto, Japan. Vessel. Height 10.0 cm; diameter 10.0 cm., A rounded teapot with a short curved spout and a looped handle sits against a plain gray background and casts a soft reflection on the surface below; the teapot features a predominantly dark black glossy central area surrounded by reddish-brown enamel decorated with floral motifs in pale pink, white, and green, and small accents of gold and blue on the lid and upper band; a small ornate finial tops the lid in a muted gold tone, and the spout and handle show patterned dark brown detailing.
