Shield sipar, Persian, Qajar dynasty 1785–1925, 18th/19th century, Iran; material: metal weapon; height 9.0 cm, diameter 47.5 cm. Decoration: field with hunting scenes horses, archers, belts ornamented with plant tendrils and inscriptions stylized in Kufic script. Function: militaria/hunting shield., A large, shallow, dome-shaped metal object seen from the side with a gently flared rim and two raised rounded knobs on top; the metal surface is dark gray with subtle lighter gray highlights and shows intricate incised decorative patterns across the dome and rim; along the lower edge there is a layer of rough, fibrous padding in muted brown and beige tones visible underneath.
